VISIT OPTIONS
We offer the following visitor packages at JNR. Payments can be made online, at your hotel or at the gate.
RESERVE ENTRY: If you are familiar with JNR and with walking in the Himalayas, you can visit the Reserve on your own (between the hours of sunrise and sunset only). After registering and getting an entry ticket, you can explore the Reserve by yourself or with a local guide (when available). You can walk around the many trails, depending on the season and the time you have available. We will also provide a printed map and trail guide as part of this package. While the Reserve and the trails are safe, please take adequate care while walking as there are areas which are a little steep and rocky. If possible, please call and inform us in advance so that we can ensure that there is someone at the gate to receive you. Once you have entered the Reserve, you can stay as long as you like, provided you follow the rules. The cost for entry is Rs 450 per adult. Children below 10 years can enter without charge but only when accompanied by adults.

EXPERT GUIDED WALK: We offer expert guided walks throughout the year for visitors who would like to learn more about the flora and fauna of the Reserve. You will have the opportunity to see for yourself the wildlife using the trails you are walking on through our hidden cameras, listen to bird call recordings and learn about animal behavior and plant uses. We will provide equipment/accessories depending on the season, including binoculars, umbrellas, walking sticks and leech socks. In addition, you will get a map and trail guide as well as pocket field guides to help identify flowers, trees, and mushrooms of the Reserve. Tea and buiscuits can be arranged as part of these walks if desired. The cost for the expert guided walk is Rs 1,000 (1 person | 1 guide) per adult, Rs 700 (2-10 people | 1 or 2 guides) per adult, Rs 600 (10-20 people | 2-3 guides) per adult and >20 people (depends on composition of group). Please call in advance to book the walks and be at the JNR gate at the time agreed with the guide.

SPECIAL WALKS: Each month, JNR organises a special walk with experts from diverse fields – writers, naturalists, photographers, historians and more. These walks provide an entiching experience,exposing you to many different facets of this part of the Himalayas and often imparting new skills to the participants of the walks. To get announcements about the special walks, please get on our mailing list by sending an email toinfo@jabarkhetnature.com and we will keep you informed. The cost of these walks varies from Rs. 600 to Rs. 1000 depending on the topic, expert and length of the walk. Payment for the expert walks needs to be made at the the gate.
TAILORED WALKS:We can organise longer, tailored walks for groups interested in tougher and more adventourous hikes or those interested in mixing nature with culture. These include day-long hikes to lesser visited parts of the Reserve as well as full-day or overnight hikes/treks that will enable you to explore the surrounding hills, forests and villages. The village walk is conducted in collaboration with the Kanda Jhak Ecotourism Committee, a community-based initiative that is developed and managed by the local villagers of Kanda. Please get in touch with us to design these walks/treks for you. The cost will range from Rs 1200 (for the day hikes) to Rs 3,000 (for overnight hikes) and will include a light snack or a local village lunch.
For online payments, please print out the receipt or keep the SMS as this will serve as your entry pass. If you are not able to make an online booking, you can call one of the numbers below and we will make arrangements for you to pay at the gate or at your hotel.
Note: All costs are exclusive of travel to and from the Reserve. Please contact us if you need transportation arranged to the Reserve.
